If you have always wanted to ride a motorcycle, the basic class is for you! Motorcycle safety will cover the basics to get you started in the exhilarating and fun world of motorcycle riding. This class will waive both the driving and written portion for the state license, and some insurance companies will give a discount on your rates. Simply take your completion card to the DMV to apply for your motorcycle endorsement.
Little or no knowledge of the operation of a motorcycle is required for this Motorcycle Safety Foundation sanctioned course.
You will need to:
- Be able to ride a bicycle
- Motorcycle safety riders should bring a valid state (from any state) issued ID such as a Driver’s license or learners permit
- Have parents or guardians sign a consent/release form if you are under the age of 18
- Be prepared (bring riding gear) to begin riding during the first class- Saturday morning
- Participants in the motorcycle safety course must bring a DOT approved helmet (three-quarter or full face) – loaners are available
- Motorcycle safety riders must wear sturdy over-the-ankle boots
- Motorcycle safety riders must wear full-finger gloves
- Motorcycle safety riders must wear a long sleeved shirt or jacket
- Motorcycle safety riders must wear long pants (Without holes or ripped spots)
- Motorcycle safety riders must wear eye protection (prescription eyewear and safety glasses acceptable)
- Bring rain gear in case of rain (class is held rain or shine- but will be postponed if weather is determined dangerous or inclement)
- Bring drinking water & snacks if so desired
- Motorcycles are provided for the Basic Rider course
- Basic Rider 2 participants must provide own motorcycle and show proof of registration and insurance
*Note: Classes may run later due to weather, or additional instruction time as needed.
The Basic Rider course concludes with a knowledge test and a skill evaluation. Riders who pass will receive a Missouri Motorcycle Safety Program Completion Card. Students may take the completion card to the license bureau, and the state skill portion and knowledge test of the licensing exam is waived. You will be required to take an eye exam and pay applicable fees. Some insurance companies may give a discount on rates for successfully completing the course. There is no guarantee that an individual enrolling in this course will pass or get his or her license. Motorcycles will be supplied. Enroll early; space is limited to 10 riders.
Basic Rider Course 2 New bike? Need a refresher? This one-day course gives you the opportunity to sharpen riding skills on your own motorcycle. Class meets from 9am-5pm and costs $129. Student must provide their own motorcycle. Copy of current liability insurance and motorcycle endorsement, permit, or license must be submitted to The LearningForce office PRIOR to class.

CANCELLATION: You may withdraw or change class sessions one week prior to the first class meeting date for full refund less 10% processing fee. If you are feeling sick prior to class, please let us know immediately and postpone to a later date. Changes or refunds will only be allowed after that time if your slot can be filled in the session for which you registered.
