State Fair Community College (SFCC) has reported a notable 13 percent increase in enrollment for the Fall 2024 semester. The student headcount at SFCC now stands at 4,242, up 488 students over last year.
The college’s growth is not limited to Sedalia, as the college reported increases in students in Boonville, Clinton, Eldon, and Jefferson City. The Jefferson City location, which recently held a ribbon-cutting, reported a total enrollment of 60 students.
The increase in enrollment also means growth in credit hours, with the college reporting 40,098 total credit hours recorded, an 11.3 percent increase.
Among the new students, 80.6 percent are traditional (directly from high school), of which 63.4 percent are first-generation college students. SFCC also saw a significant rise in Dual Credit High School enrollment, with 1,499 students enrolled, a 22.6 percent increase from last year.
“This growth is encouraging as we continue to expand our academic offerings and facilities to provide flexible learning options in high-demand areas of study,” said Dr. Brent Bates, SFCC President.
The college most recently added in-demand programs, such as Surgical Technology, Behavioral health Support, and Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning and Refrigeration to their offerings. The college also added a first-year nursing program to the Clinton campus, absorbing the program from the Clinton Technical School.
“We have always prided ourselves on being responsive to the community needs, and these new programs and new facilities we are building on campus are reflective of that,” said Bates.
In addition to the academic expansion, the college is growing physically, with a new (yet to be named) $20 million, 40,000+ square-foot agriculture and transportation technology center and a new 196-bed resident hall, both set to open in 2025. Both new construction sites are adjacent to the college’s recently acquired 200-acre working-farm on the west side of campus.
Enrollment for the 2025 Spring semester will begin Nov. 2, and students can apply for admission at www.sfccmo.edu.
