State Fair Community College’s The LearningForce will offer a 9-hour Hobby Welding training 5:30-9 p.m. April 28, 29, and May 1 in Olen Howard Workforce Innovation Center, room 1124, on the Sedalia campus. The cost is $249 per person.    

This course is ideal for people with no experience as well as those with some skill and knowledge who want to improve repair and equipment welding maintenance techniques. Participants will learn the basic principles of MIG welding, how to set up and operate a MIG welder. Topics include safety, setup and shutdown procedures, joint welding applications on mild steel materials, and how to design small projects for personal use or profit. The training will include hands-on time using MIG welding equipment, welders may also bring their own 110-volt machine.    

Participants must wear leather shoes, long-sleeve denim or cotton shirts, and bring their own welding hoods, all-leather gloves and safety glasses.
