Sedalia, Missouri – Feb. 2, 2024 – State Fair Community College’s The LearningForce will co-sponsor the APhA/WSU Pharmacy-Based Immunization Administration by Pharmacy Technicians training program. This initiative aims to enhance the skills of pharmacy technicians in administering immunizations, contributing to the broader goal of improving population health.
The two-part training consists of a two-hour online self-study module that must be completed prior to the on-ground training session that will be held 8 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, April 10, in Fielding Technical Center on the Sedalia campus. The training focuses on expanding the role of pharmacy technicians through increased skills training. Technicians will be equipped to collaborate effectively with pharmacists, thereby enhancing the healthcare team’s ability to boost immunization rates in states that permit technicians to administer vaccines.
Additional program requirements include completing the Injection Technique Assessment Exercise, which includes administering three injections (one subcutaneous and two intramuscular injections) on a live person.

The SFCC Pharmacy Technician program offers a Skills Certificate, a Professional Certificate and an Associate of Applied Science degree. The Skills Certificate prepares students to take the Pharmacy Technician Certificate Board Examination to achieve CPhT designation.
