Sedalia, Missouri – State Fair Community College’s The LearningForce will offer two quilting classes in September and October.
Pineapple Quilt class, a four-session course, will start at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, in Fielding Center 209 on the Sedalia campus. While there are many versions of the Pineapple Quilt, this course will use foundation sheets (paper piecing) to make this quilt. At the first session, Rebecca Schnakenberg, instructor, will cover the fabric and supplies needed to complete the quilt; do not make purchases before this meeting. In the remaining three sessions, participants will need to bring sewing machines to construct the quilt. Cost for the course is $69, and participants will need to purchase their own pattern, fabric and supplies. The Lynn Graves foundation pack pattern, item #FS300 can be purchased from the Little Foot Quilt Shop, West Main Street, Evans City, Pennsylvania 16033 by calling (800) 597-7075.
Gypsy Wife Quilt class, a four-session course, will start at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, in Fielding Center 209 on the Sedalia campus. This quilt is a colorful hodgepodge of many fabrics and blocks, which is ideal for using leftover material scraps. At the first session, Rebecca Schnakenberg, instructor, will cover the fabric and supplies needed to complete the quilt; do not make purchases before this meeting. In the remaining three sessions, participants will need to bring sewing machines to construct the quilt. Cost for the course is $69, and participants will need to purchase their own fabric and supplies. Schnakenberg recommends purchasing “Gypsy Wife” by Jen Kingwell for the class, but it is not required.
