The LearningForce at State Fair Community College in partnership with West Central Association of Realtors will offer a workshop on the basics of self-defense on April 10 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Thompson Conference Center on the Sedalia campus.
The training will cover mental comprehension as well as functional physical applications through the four “A’s” of self-defense: attention, awareness, avoidance and action.
Other training objectives include environmental awareness, predator target selection, common attacks, fight/survivor mindset, fight/protection techniques, sexual assault counterattacks, weapons disarming and self-defense weapons.
There is no fee for the workshop, which is sponsored by the West Central Association of Realtors. Spots are limited. Participants can register at https://bit.ly/SelfDwks25. Attendees should wear comfortable clothing and gym shoes. Ages 12-15 must be accompanied by a guardian.
