State Fair Community College is now offering the Medical Assisting (MEA) program on the Sedalia campus, 3201 West 16th St. for a fall (Aug. 21) or spring (Jan. 16) start. Depending on individual career goals, students may earn a Skills Certificate in 18.5 credit hours, a Professional Certificate in 34 credit hours or an Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assisting in 61 credit hours. Classes are offered online with one day a week on-ground skills lab in Sedalia.
SFCC’s program prepares students to work as multi-skilled health professionals who can perform both clinical and administrative duties in physicians’ offices, medical centers, clinics, laboratories, and other ambulatory care settings. MEA employment is projected to grow 23% through 2024. Salaries range from $30,390 to $51,710 (mynextmove.org).
