Osage Beach, Missouri – State Fair Community College’s The LearningForce will offer two short courses at the Lake of the Ozarks campus for people who want to learn about engineering design technology and 3D modeling. The courses, which are ideal for small business and dock owners, will be held on Saturdays in March at the SFCC-Lake of the Ozarks campus, 3797 Osage Beach Parkway. Class sizes are limited so early enrollment is recommended.

Fundamentals of Drafting will be held 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 7. Computer aided drafting (CAD) skills are needed in industries such as automotive, shipbuilding, aerospace, construction, prosthetics and many more. Career pathways are endless with a degree in Engineering Design Technology.

Participants will be introduced to STEM principles (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and various career pathways. Basic architectural and mechanical drafting theories will be covered, and participants will take a hand-sketched concept and produce a true size diagram using AutoCAD software. The cost is $59.

3D Modeling will be held 10 a.m. to noon on two Saturdays, March 14 and 28. Demand is surging in today’s engineering market for more 3D mechanical design, simulation, tool creation, and design communication that ensures sustainable, cost-effectively produced products.

Participants will use Inventor software to learn parametric modeling, direct editing tools and advanced surface modeling capabilities. A variety of metals and wood will be stress analyzed for construction to validate digital designs for real-world conditions. The cost is $118.
