Sedalia, Missouri – All offices and the Campus Store on the State Fair Community College Sedalia campus will close from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 24 for Career Day. Day classes will be canceled, but classes that start at 5 p.m. or later will be held.
Career Day is an opportunity for students in grades 9 and 10 to explore careers in Arts, Humanities and Communication; Business and Information Technology; Natural Resources and Agriculture; Health and Human Services; Industrial Technology and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
About 1,600 high school students are registered to attend along with counselors and chaperones. Students receive a free T-shirt, are divided in to groups of 20 to 22 and participate in interactive activities with professionals in each career field. A sack lunch is provided for students and chaperones.
Sponsors for Career Day are Tyson Foods, Bothwell Regional Health Center, Duke Manufacturing, Gardner Denver, and Nucor. Wood’s Supermarket-East, Steak ‘n Shake and Freddy’s Cape Cod Chips have provided donations. SFCC faculty, staff and administration will assist with presentations and serve as guides for visiting students and chaperones.
The Daum Museum of Contemporary Art and the State Fair Career and Technology Center will be open regular hours.
