State Fair Community College’s Theatre Arts program will present “With Their Eyes” at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 10 and 11 and 2 p.m. Sept. 12 in the Yeater Learning Center lobby on the Sedalia campus. Admission is free; however, donations for theatre scholarships will be accepted.
This powerful performance is about what the students and staff of Stuyvesant High School, only a few blocks away from the World Trade Center in New York City, experienced on Sept. 11, 2001. The semester was just beginning and within a few hours on that Tuesday morning, the students and staff would share an experience that transformed their lives and the lives of all Americans. Through the students’ and staff’s eyes and in their own words, the audience will hear firsthand stories of a day that took place 20 years ago.
Annie Thoms wrote “With Their Eyes,” and SFCC Theatre program coordinator Ryan P. Mahannah is the director. This collection of perspectives helped shape the HBO documentary “In the Shadow of the Towers: Stuyvesant High on 9/11.”
The performance is recommended for audiences age 13 and up because of brief, strong language. Tickets may be claimed, at no cost, at SFCCTheatre.eventbrite.com or by calling the Box Office at (660) 530-5814 from noon to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday and two hours prior to performance time. Face coverings are required. For special accommodations, email Mahannah, at rmahannah@sfccmo.edu.
