“The Tempest” has been considered to have been William Shakespeare’s last play and one of his most popular. Garner’s adaptation presents the tale of Prospera, former Duchess of Milan and her daughter Miranda who live on an island near Italy to which Prospera’s brother Antonio had banished her. One day, Prospera watches a shipwreck and among the group that washes ashore is the King of Naples Alonso, his daughter Fernanda, and Prospera’s brother Antonio. Consequently, in a series of bewildering events, Miranda falls in love with Fernanda, and the play ends in reconciliation.
