SEDALIA—Several State Fair Community College Theatre Arts students competed for scholarships and awards at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival’s (KCACTF) annual Region 5 event Jan. 22-28 in Des Moines, Iowa.
The following students were nominated by respondents from other colleges and universities in Missouri for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship competition and performed with an acting partner of their choice:

  • Ethan Yazell (“Godspell”), sophomore, Sedalia; partner Jacob Fowler, sophomore Warrensburg
  • Kaleigh Exendine (“Godspell”), sophomore, Lincoln; partner Connor Marshall, freshman, Bates City
  • Lauren Dowell (“Bus Stop”), freshman, Odessa; partner Fowler
  • Joey Roberts (“Bus Stop”), freshman, Urbana; partner Jesse Van Booven, freshman, LaMonte
  • Alia Stepney (“The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs”), sophomore, Columbia; partner Gavin Eichler, freshman, Lincoln

Students who competed in the Stage Crew Showdown were Dowell, sophomore Kayla Rains, Windsor and freshmen Regan Smith and Tyler Singer, both from Odessa.

The KCACTF is a national theatre program dedicated to the improvement of collegiate theatre. The regional event featured theatre arts programs from undergraduate and graduate schools in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
