State Fair Community College’s Theatre Arts program will present Alice by Heart, a heartfelt and imaginative musical, April 23–27 in the Stauffacher Theatre on the Sedalia campus. Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, with a special dinner theater performance at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26. A matinee will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27.

Directed by SFCC Theatre Program Coordinator Kristen Henning, Alice by Heart is set during the London Blitz in World War II. As bombs fall, Alice Spencer and her friend Alfred seek shelter in a tube station. When Alfred is quarantined, Alice draws him into their favorite book, spiraling into a whimsical world of imagination and hope.

The ensemble features Alaina Ayers, Izzy Brown, Lindsey Curtis, Berry Raeth and Antonio Taylor. Lenora Janke and Joel Henning portray Young Alice and Young Alfred.

Stage management is led by Aalayah Kirkpatrick. Antonio Taylor is lighting designer; Tim Hill, sound designer; Shelby Lutjen, hair designer; and Ariel Giles, makeup designer. 

Several participants are members of Delta Psi Omega, a national honorary theatre fraternity. 

The musical runs 90 minutes with no intermission and explores love, loss and the healing power of imagination.
