Sedalia, MissouriNov. 20, 2023 – The State Fair Community College Music Arts program will present its winter band and vocal concert at 7 p.m. Nov. 28 at First United Methodist Church, 916 Thompson Blvd. in Sedalia. Admission is free; however, donations of snack foods such as granola bars, crackers, dried fruit, nuts, Little Debbie snacks, etc., will be accepted at the door and contributed to SFCC’s College Campus Connection C3 Club for students. 

The SFCC Concert Band, directed by instructor Joe Schreimann, will open the evening’s performance with “Jingle Bells Forever,” a march arranged by American composer Robert W. Smith. The concert will include holiday favorites like “Russian Christmas Music” by Alfred Reed, arranged by James Curnow, and “Scenes from the Nutcracker” by Peter Tchaikovsky, arranged by Michael Story. The band also will present Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” arranged by Larry Kerchner.  

SFCC Music Arts program coordinator and instructor Dr. Christopher Kindle will direct the Chamber Choir that Cheryl McCollester will accompany. The choir will perform “Come Join Their Song” by Mark Shepperd and Mark Hayes’ “Mary Did You Know?” featuring Russ Schupp in the percussion section. The choir will also present “Love’s Pure Light (Silent Night)” by Elaine Hagenberg and “Hodie Christus Natus Est (Today Christ is Born!)” by Mark Hayes.  

To close the concert, the band and choir will combine to perform “Holiday Favorites,” arranged by Roger Emerson and Paul Lavender. This medley includes: “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Silver Bells,” and “Frosty the Snowman.”
