The State Fair Community College Music Arts program will present its winter band and vocal concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 3 at First United Methodist Church, 916 Thompson Blvd. in Sedalia. Admission is free; however, donations of snack foods such as granola bars, crackers, dried fruit, nuts, Little Debbie snacks, etc., will be accepted at the door and contributed to SFCC’s College Campus Connection C3 Club for students.
The SFCC Concert Band, directed by instructor Joe Schreimann, will open the evening’s performance with “Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24,” arranged by Bob Phillips. The concert will include holiday favorites like “God of Our Fathers,” by Claude T. Smith, and “Hark! The Herald Angels Swing,” arranged by Chris Sharp. The band also will present Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride.”
SFCC Music Arts program coordinator and instructor Dr. Christopher Kindle will direct the chamber choir, which Cheryl McCollester will accompany. The choir will perform “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen,” arranged by Heather Sorenson, and will feature Russ Schupp on the Cajon. The chamber choir will also perform “There Is Faint Music” by Dan Forrest, “O Come, Emmanuel, by Elaine Hagenberg, featuring Alisa Sonnik on the cello. Lastly, the choir will present “Children, Go Where I Send Thee,” arranged by Kevin Phillip Johnson, rap crafted by Ayana Davis. Solos will be performed by Emma Miller, Brady Morgan, Kaelyn Ray, and Joseph Bland, featuring Cheryl McCollester & Russ Schupp on the Djembe.
To close the concert, the band and choir will combine to perform “A Festive Celebration,” arranged by John Moss and Audrey Snyder.
