The State Fair Community College Music Arts program will present the President’s Concert on April 30 in Stauffacher Theatre on the Sedalia campus. A reception of light desserts will be held 6:15-6:45 p.m. while the SFCC Jazz Ensemble performs. The concert will follow the reception. The event is free; seating will be first come, first served.
SFCC Music Arts program coordinator and instructor Dr. Christopher Kindle will direct the Contemporary and Chamber choirs. Cheryl McCollester will be the accompanist, and Russ Schupp will be the percussionist. The Contemporary Choir will perform songs like “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus, Gregory Hein and Michael Pollack/arr. Mark Brymer, “What was I made for?” by Billie Eilish O’Connell and Finneas O’Connell/arr. Lucy Cook, and will also feature a soloist by SFCC president, Dr. Brent Bates during “Pure Imagination,” by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley/arr. Mark Hayes.
SFCC instructor Joe Schreimann will direct the Concert Band and Combined Concert Band and Chamber Choir. The performance features “Legacy Fanfare,” “Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral (From Lohengrin),” “Choose Joy,” and “Washington Post March.”
The Chamber Choir and Concert Band will join to conclude the President’s Concert with “Irving Berlin’s America” by Irving Berlin/arr. Roger Emerson & Paul Murtha.
