State Fair Community College will now award college credit to high school graduates who have earned the Missouri Seal of Biliteracy from a Department of Elementary and Secondary Education-approved school district. These are Missouri graduates who have demonstrated high achievement in speaking English and other languages as well as sociocultural competence. More than 100 districts and schools in Missouri have gone through the process to make the Seal of Biliteracy available to their students.
The seal identifies students who are proficient in more than one language and awards them recognition on transcripts, during graduation ceremonies and on job applications.
“SFCC is proud to recognize these students who have earned the Seal of Biliteracy,” said Dr. Brent Bates, president. “As our regional businesses and industries compete globally and our society becomes more diverse, students who speak more than one language are in high demand. This program supports student success and SFCC’s mission to provide relevant and responsive learning experiences that empower our students and communities to prosper.”
