Sedalia, Missouri – The State Fair Community College Board of Trustees voted to approve a special resolution opposing the annexation of the Camdenton R-III School District into the Ozark Technical Community College (OTC) district on Thursday, Jan. 23.

The vote came during the board’s regular monthly meeting at State Fair Community College’s Sedalia campus.

“It’s important that the citizens around the lake understand that we have been committed to serving the Lake of the Ozarks for 36 years without local tax support, and we hope to continue to do so for another 36 years,” said Randall D. Eaton, SFCC Board of Trustees president.

The resolution recognizes SFCC’s history of service at the lake and highlights some of the college’s contributions to the community. A few examples of those engagements include the reconstruction of Camp Pin Oak Lodge, a $1.25 million federal grant for an Upward Bound (TRiO) program that services Camdenton and Eldon high school students, and $100,000 endowed scholarships from the Genuine Country Music Association for students attending the SFCC Lake of the Ozarks campus.

State Fair Community College has a 28,000-square-foot campus in Osage Beach that features 11 classrooms, three science labs, three computer labs, a testing center and a commons area for students. This means that the Lake Area has a comprehensive community college with no increase to real estate and personal property taxes.

SFCC-Lake of the Ozarks serves traditional students, nontraditional adult students who want to upgrade their skills and industries needing customized training. Classes are small, teachers are local and tuition is affordable. Students who are eligible for the Missouri A+ scholarship funds do not pay any tuition to attend a community college.

Additionally, SFCC has been designated as the top-ranked nursing program in the state at the Lake of the Ozarks, Clinton, and Sedalia.
