State Fair Community College students won honors and were elected as officers at the National Post-secondary Agriculture Students (PAS) conference March 13-16 in St. Charles, Missouri.
Twenty-one SFCC agriculture students attended. They competed in career planning and progress, employment interview, public speaking, college bowl, and career program area contests, and attended workshops, banquets, industry presentations, and toured local businesses while meeting ag students from across the country.
The following SFCC students placed in these national contests:
• Career Planning—Jillian Herigon, Boonville, first place, Agribusiness Management and Marketing Systems; Hannah Parker, Ashland, second place, Horticulture, Environmental and Natural Resource Systems
• Career Progress—Erin Robinson, Cole Camp, first place, Ruminant Animal Systems
• Employment Interview—Alexandra England, Rocky Mount, second place, Fruit and Vegetable Production; Hannah Parker, Ashland, first place, Landscaping and Nursery
Three SFCC students were elected to serve as National PAS officers for the coming year: Ashley Rupe, Stover, secretary; Sam Sudbrock, Centralia, vice president; and Hannah Parker, Ashland, vice president. Candidates must participate in multiple interviews, work in teams to develop and deliver presentations and help with conference activities. A total of seven students are elected as national officers, a president, five vice presidents and a secretary.
