Sometimes, it’s not the classes and homework that keep you up at night.
The adjustment of starting college, meeting new people and trying to find your rhythm while doing your best can be overwhelming. When that happens, we’re here to help. We are committed to supporting you on your educational journey, and counseling is a part of that commitment.
We offer free short- and long-term counseling services to help you overcome obstacles and grow academically and personally. A licensed clinical social worker is available to talk and respond objectively to personal and social problems on a short-term basis. Through listening and exploration, our counselor can help you find solutions to the challenges you’re facing.
Confidential counseling can help you address issues such as:
- Self-esteem and self-confidence
- Adjustment
- Test anxiety
- Stress
- Relationships
We offer three free counseling sessions per semester for every student.
If long-term therapy is deemed necessary, the counselor can make an appropriate referral to an off-campus provider or to the Central Methodist University (CMU) Clinical Counseling Center on the Sedalia campus.
CMU Clinical Counseling
Free counseling and emotional support are available during the spring and fall semesters for all SFCC students and employees through a partnership with Central Methodist University (CMU). Counseling is provided by interns from the CMU clinical counseling program who are under the supervision of a licensed professional counselor. SFCC students and employees may email CCCsedalia@centralmethodist.edu to schedule an appointment. Hours will vary.
