SEDALIA—State Fair Community College is seeking nominations for its annual Distinguished Alumni award that recognizes the outstanding achievements of an SFCC graduate. The award will be presented May 12 at commencement.
To be eligible, nominees must be persons of integrity who have made significant contributions to their communities or careers; whose actions reflect and recognize the importance of the education they received at SFCC; and who demonstrate pride in their alma mater.
Nominations for this year’s award must be received by 5 p.m. March 20.
“We encourage anyone who knows an SFCC graduate who might be deserving of this prestigious award to send in a nomination,” said SFCC President Dr. Joanna Anderson. “Past honorees have been active in their communities and good stewards of the college’s legacy. Recognizing alumni for setting the bar high in their careers and accomplishments is a tradition we want to continue.”
Anyone may nominate an SFCC graduate for the award by submitting to the SFCC Foundation a completed nomination form; a letter stating why the nominee deserves the award; and two or more letters of recommendation from other persons who are familiar with the nominee’s accomplishments and pride in SFCC. Other materials also may be submitted, such as newspaper or magazine articles about the nominee or publications or other materials produced by the nominee.
A selection committee will review the nominations; nominees who are not selected will remain in the pool for five years.
Full-time members of SFCC’s faculty, staff or elected governing board during the current fiscal year are ineligible for nomination. The award is not granted posthumously.
