State Fair Community College will host a series of open forums and community social hours Oct. 26-29 as finalists for the college’s next president visit the Sedalia campus.

The events will give SFCC employees, students and community members opportunities to meet the finalists, learn about their experience and vision for the college, ask questions and provide feedback as the Board of Trustees moves toward selecting SFCC’s next president.

Each finalist will participate in two open forums, at 11 a.m. and 2:15 p.m., in Stauffacher Theatre on SFCC’s Sedalia campus. The forums also will be livestreamed at sfccmo.edu/presidential-search for those unable to attend in person.

In addition to the open forums, SFCC will host a social hour with each candidate at 7 p.m. in the Thompson Conference Center. The entire community is invited to attend and meet the finalists.

The community is encouraged to submit questions for the presidential candidates before the open forums. Following the forums, attendees will be invited to provide feedback on each finalist. Feedback will be provided to the SFCC Board of Trustees for consideration during its deliberations.

Forum questions and candidate feedback can be submitted at sfccmo.edu/presidential-search.

The search follows SFCC President Dr. Brent Bates’ announcement in January that he will retire Dec. 31 after nearly 40 years in higher education. Bates has served as SFCC’s sixth president since July 2022.

Additional information, candidate announcements and updates about the presidential search are available at sfccmo.edu/presidential-search.
