The State Fair Community College Theatre Arts program will present the dark comedy “She Kills Monsters” Feb. 20-24 in the Stauffacher Theatre on the Sedalia campus.
This play tells the story of Agnes Evans, a young woman grieving for her deceased sister, Tilly. The sisters were never close, but after finding Tilly’s notebook containing a game scenario she created, Agnes discovers that Tilly was a well-known Dungeons and Dragons player. With the help of Chuck, a “dungeon master,” Agnes plays the quest Tilly described and is able to understand the sister she never really knew.
“She Kills Monsters,” which is set in Athens, Ohio, in the 1990s, was written by Qui Nguyen and debuted in 2011. The play is rated R for language and adult themes.
Regular performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 20-23; admission is $6.
