The Daum Museum of Contemporary Art on the State Fair Community College Sedalia campus will present four special evening events and extended hours on the fourth Thursday of May through August. Hours will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on May 25, June 22, July 27, and Aug. 24. Events will begin at 6 p.m. and are free to the public.
The first event on May 25 features magician Eric Vaughn who delivers family-friendly magic with a funny, light-hearted approach. He is a recipient of the Magician of the Year award from Kansas City’s International Brotherhood of Magicians. Eric’s slightly wacky, comedic performances both amuse and amaze.
The June 22 event will be the opening reception for the Daum’s summer exhibitions including “Reflections: Sedalia Visual Art Association Members’ Exhibition,” “New Now 3: Recent Additions to the Collection,” and “Sherry Leedy: The Weight of Light.” Thomas Piché Jr., Daum Museum director, will give a gallery talk at 6:30 p.m.
On July 27, the Daum will host SpoFest, a community group that promotes the writing and sharing of poetry and prose in the Sedalia area. Writers will read selections of their compositions.
The final event will be Aug. 24 and will feature fun, family educational activities.
