As part of Summer Nights at the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art, StoneLion Puppet Theatre will present The Wind in the Willows at 6 p.m. Aug. 24 in Stauffacher Theatre. Museum hours for this special event are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and admission is free.
The Wind in the Willows is a fast-paced musical based on the classic tale by Kenneth Grahame. Using bunraku puppets and interactive fun, the theater troupe offers an all-age production concerning the adventures of Mr. Toad and his daring obsession with driving automobiles. Mr. Toad is accompanied by his friends Mole, Rat and Badger, who try to keep him out of trouble, with only limited success.
StoneLion Puppet Theatre has been dedicated to expanding the horizons of the young and young-at-heart through the art of puppetry since 1992. StoneLion tours throughout the Midwest and beyond from its base in Kansas City. Shows are fresh, original and educational, and the company has received backing from the Smithsonian Institute, Missouri Arts Council and Kansas City Young Audiences.
Regular museum hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For more information, call the museum at (660) 530-5888 or visit www.daummuseum.org.
