The Food Pantry & Caring Closet here at SFCC are utilities for any student to use if they are needing shelf-stable food or toiletry items.

The goods that we offer here in the Food Pantry are items like canned vegetables, and soups, as well as boxed goods like cereal, mac & cheese, and oatmeal. Juices, granola bars, raw pasta, instant mashed potatoes, and even baby food, are all items that we offer; although what we have is completely dependent on what we receive from donations.

The Caring Closet offers toiletry items such as razors, shampoo, deodorant, and more. Cleaning products like Lysol and OxiClean, are also offered, as well as dental and feminine hygiene products.

The items are donated and are free to all students who are in need. Please don’t think that you would be taking somebody else’s items if you were to get them from the FP&CC. If you need something, please fill out the form online, and place your order. If you can’t get online at home, visit your local SFCC Campus and utilize the computers made available to you there; alternatively, the pantry is located in the Proctor Library in the Yeater Learning Center on the Sedalia campus. We are located there to help you Monday-Friday, and our hours are located on our new sign in the Cyber Cafe right outside the Proctor library. We also have baskets located throughout the campus that contain close dated foods, and granola bars, and hygiene items like dental care, deodorant, and shower items, all available in the baskets, so you can grab what you want from there, and the baskets will be restocked once a week, so don’t fear that you may be taking goods from somebody else.

With that being said, our stock is completely dependent on donations, so if you are wanting to donate to the Food Pantry & Caring Closet, donations may be dropped off in the barrel next to the pantry or at any of the donation barrels located around the Sedalia campus. Also, keep an eye out for our food drives that are held quite often, we advertise them via the community boards around campus, and on the MySFCC homepage.

The information about the in-person FP&CC all pertains to the Sedalia campus, but our SFCC extended campus sites may have resources to share as well, though the options may be limited. If you are wanting anything from the FP&CC, please go to our tinyURL link and fill out the form: tinyurl.com/SFCCMOFoodPantry.

If you have any questions about the FP&CC, call the Student Support Services office at (660) 530-5831.

About the Author
Howdy! I‘m Webster, and I am a new student here at State Fair Community College. I have lived in Sedalia for nearly all my life, and I am working towards an AA Transfer degree from SFCC. When I transfer, I want to major in Criminal Justice. I am a new work-study at Student Success, and I am also a Trio student. I consider myself a very approachable person, and maybe through these blogs I can show that to be true. I hope these blogs can provide some practical advice from a new student to other new students and help you to succeed on your SFCC journey. If at all possible, I hope that these blogs can also help returning students as well, and maybe you can help me learn too!
