There are many ways to pay for college with assistance from the Federal Government. On this page, students can learn about grants (Pell, Supplemental Educational Opportunity and emergency), Work Study (college employment opportunities), and loans (Parent Plus and private). Please review these funding opportunities below to determine which is best for you.
Grants
Grants provide college funding based on financial need. The best part? You don’t have to pay them back. You can use these state and federal grants at SFCC; complete the FAFSA to see if you qualify.
For other grants, see http://dhe.mo.gov/ppc/grants/.
Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. SFCC’s federal school code is 007628
If you have financial need (and who doesn’t?), federal work-study provides part-time jobs so you can earn money for college expenses. It’s available whether you’re a full-time or part-time student. Check out employment opportunities for our students and apply. You must complete the FAFSA to determine eligibility.
Still not sure if work-study employment is for you? Check out Work Study is a Great Opportunity!, a blog by SFCC student Taylor Ireland.
Loans
Student loans are another way to help pay for college. SFCC offers two types of federal student direct loan programs and also offers private loans. Find out if you’re eligible, how much you can borrow and the best option for you.
