Is This Program Right for Me?
To be successful in this program, you need critical-thinking and problem-solving skills; the ability to design and build in virtual environments; and math and computer skills.
With an AAS degree in Engineering Design, you can prepare technical drawings and plans used to build everything from manufactured products like appliances and industrial machinery to structures like houses, office buildings, and oil and gas pipelines.
The Professional Certificate will prepare you to work as a designer/drafter in a manufacturing, civil, structural, or architectural environment. Skills Certificates in Architectural Design and Mechanical Design prepare you to work as a designer/drafter in either architectural or manufacturing and engineering environments.
Occupational Outlook
An AAS degree in EDT leads to high-paying jobs in many areas, including manufacturing, mechanical and architectural drafting, civil and structural engineering, construction management, mapping, chip and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design, graphic arts, and animation. Salaries range from $38,000 – $59,000.
SFCC graduates have found employment using their skills and knowledge at such companies as Black & Veatch, Burns & McDonnell, Kiewit, Wallace Architects, and many others.
