State Fair Community College has announced the college’s Writing Scholarship Awards recipients for 2023-2024. The recipients are Katie Staus of Smithton and Ariana Olmedo of La Monte. Each received a $500 scholarship on May 7 on the Sedalia campus. Staus is a dual credit student, and Olmedo will graduate from SFCC this spring.   

Staus was nominated by English Composition I instructor Elizabeth Carver for her essay titled “Feeling the Burden.” Olmedo was nominated by English Composition II instructor Dr. Amanda Drake for her essay titled “AI: Harmful or Beneficial.”
