The State Fair Community College Theatre Arts program will present a musical blend of mythological storytelling and themes of heroism and friendship in this adaptation of Rick Riordan’s 2005 novel, “The Lightning Thief” at 7:30 p.m. April 24-27 and 2 p.m. April 28 in the Stauffacher Theatre on the Sedalia campus. A dinner theatre will be held at 6:30 p.m. on April 27. The musical is directed by Kristen Henning, SFCC Theatre Instructor and Program Coordinator. Music and lyrics by Rob Rokicki and book by Joe Tracz.
According to the book: “As the half-blood son of a Greek god, Percy Jackson has newly discovered powers he can’t control, a destiny he doesn’t want, and a mythology textbook’s worth of monsters on his trail. When Zeus’s master lightning bolt is stolen, and Percy becomes the prime suspect, he has to find and return the bolt to prove his innocence and prevent a war between the gods.”
Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at SFCCTheatre.Eventbrite.com or by calling the Box Office at (660) 530-5814 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. SFCC students, employees and retirees may reserve tickets for performances at no cost in the Box Office. Dinner theatre tickets for Saturday, April 27, cost $13 per person and do not include the show; an additional ticket purchase for $5 will be needed for the musical. Wheelchair seating is available upon request. For special accommodations, email Kristen at khenning@sfccmo.edu.
