Sedalia, Missouri – Sept. 9, 2022 – The State Fair Community College golf team will host the program’s first full field event on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 17 and 18 with a shotgun start on both days at the Sedalia Country Club. The event will consist of a 36-hole stroke play format with team and individual awards.
SFCC started its golf team in 2019 with a few student-athletes and, even as a young team, placed fifth in three fall National Collegiate Club Golf Association (NCCGA) tournaments. One player, Hayden Brogdon, qualified for the NCCGA fall national tournament. Since then, the team has transitioned from collegiate club to National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) competitions.
“We will have NJCAA teams, along with NAIA teams, and potentially teams from NCAA Division II or Division III at this event,” said Roadrunners Head Coach Wayne Ogle. “This is a natural step in the growth of our program to host an event at our home course.
“We are very fortunate to have a facility like the Sedalia Country Club that is gracious enough to allow us to host this event. We look forward to hosting 90 to 100 college golfers in town and letting them see where we get to play golf every day. We would love to have the community come out and watch this event.”
