The State Fair Community College Theatre Arts program will present the comedy “The Actress” Feb. 21-25 in the Stauffacher Theatre on the Sedalia campus.
“The Actress” is a funny and poignant new comedy that takes place backstage as a colorful, complicated actress makes her emotional farewell performance. People from her life invade her dressing room to say their goodbyes, declare their love, roar with laughter, spit insults, grab a final embrace, and renew old battles.
Peter Quilter, a British playwright twice nominated for the Olivier Award and for three Tony Awards, is the author of the play. Tim Wells, SFCC instructor, is the director. The performance is rated PG for mild language.
Regular performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21-24; admission is $6. Tickets are $15 for the Feb. 24 dinner theatre in the Stauffacher lobby; dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. The dinner theatre menu is available by calling the Box Office at (660) 530-5814 from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. A matinée will be presented at 2 p.m. Feb. 25. Anyone 60 or older may reserve free tickets for the matinée.
SFCC students and employees receive free admission, and cost of the dinner theatre for them is $10. Special group rates are available for both regular performances and dinner theatre.
