State Fair Community College’s The LearningForce will offer a comprehensive four-day mammography workshop June 14-17 in the Fielding Technical Center on the Sedalia campus.
The workshop covers all aspects of training for experienced mammographers and radiologic technologists interested in crossing over into mammography. The Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA)-mandated eight-hour Digital Mammography Course is included.
Participants may attend one, two, three, or all four days. Cost is $410 for all four days if registered by May 1 or $460 after May 1 or $115 per day. Lunch and snacks are provided each day. To register online, go to www.sfccmo.edu/the-learning-force/community-education.
The workshop will provide attendees with the initial training necessary to fulfill the requirements set forth by the MQSA. It is an excellent resource for technologists planning to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) mammography registry exam. Others who can benefit include managers, educators and health care professionals involved in breast-imaging services and staff members of companies offering mammographic equipment and supplies.
Day one will cover common mammography topics. Day two will focus on mammographic positioning and film/screen mammography; day three will focus on digital mammography and beyond; and day four will cover diagnostic procedures, breast cancer treatments and a positioning lab.
Kari Fisher, RTRM, will be the instructor. She is a Mammography and Quality Control Technologist at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City and has been a registered technologist for 15 years. Fisher is ARRT certified in film screen, digital and 3D tomosynthesis mammography.
Attending the full workshop will provide 28.25 hours of continuing credit and meets the standard for post primary education.
