Microbiology Instructor Dr. Kevin Lawson has received the March Mentor of the Month award given by the college’s Alpha Lambda Omega chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society. The award recognizes faculty and staff who have positively impacted students through their advising, guidance and support.

Lawson was nominated by two students. One student said, “He challenges us on a daily basis to not only ensure we are learning the material but also to get us excited about the class … he is by far one of the best instructors I’ve had in all the colleges I have attended.”

Students and employees can submit nominees to Phi Theta Kappa officers who select the winners. Phi Theta Kappa is a worldwide honor society with chapters in more than 1,300 two-year colleges.
