Students in State Fair Community College’s Music Arts ensembles will present their spring musical retrospect at 7:30 p.m. April 28-29 in the Stauffacher Theatre on the Sedalia campus.
The students will showcase material they have worked on throughout the year as well as new selections prepared for this concert.
SFCC Jazz Runners will perform a kaleidoscope of musical styles, from traditional blues and Big Band jazz standards to contemporary jazz selections.
Featured Chamber Choir selections include several spiritual inspired selections, a classical styled setting of Psalm 117 and the Louis Armstrong signature song “What a Wonderful World.”
The Jazz Choir will sing familiar standards from the golden age of jazz such as Cole Porter’s “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” Nat King Cole’s “L-O-V-E” and an original jazz tango titled “The Bandit of Barcelona.”
Directors are Britt Faaborg, adjunct instructor, and Ron Sayer, Music Arts program coordinator and instructor. Accompanists are Gwen Kappelman and Shoko Nelson, adjunct instructors.
Tickets are $6 for the public and groups of 10 or more are half price.
