Precision Machining Technology

Is This Program Right for Me?

The program will prepare you for a variety of machining-related occupations, such as manual or CNC machine operators, set-up technicians, CNC programmers, general machinists, and tool and die makers. Each represents different skills and skill levels. Equipment in the Machine Tool lab, which includes state-of-the art computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines, is interfaced with the Engineering Design Technology (formerly CAD)/computer-integrated machining (CAM) lab to give you experience in computer-aided manufacturing.

Stackable certificates help you move up the skills ladder one step at a time. Start out with a skills certificate and get the credentials you need to get started in the precision machining profession. Keep adding skills with additional skills certificates and a professional certificate and finally wrap it up an associate degree.

Some common skills and abilities needed for this program include good eyesight, hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination, deductive reasoning, critical thinking, concentration, and the ability to read drawings and prints.

SFCC’s Precision Machining program is accredited by the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS). Accredited programs demonstrate the ability to produce skilled, work-ready individuals for today’s industrial and manufacturing workforce.
