Common abilities needed for this program include excellent communication and reading skills, diagnostic and problem-solving skills and a thorough knowledge of computers and math.
SFCC’s Automotive Technology program is accredited by the ASE Education Foundation MAST level, which means as a graduate, you will have higher preference in the workforce!
The Lead Instructors for all classes are all ASE Master Certified Technicians insuring you will receive the best instruction possible throughout your education.
You can gain a Professional Certificate in Automotive Technology that will launch your career as an entry-level automotive technician or wrap it up in an associate of applied science degree (AAS) in Automotive Technology that will prepare you for taking your ASE master certification tests. After graduation, you will have one year of your required two years of on-the-job training completed to be eligible to become ASE Master Certified by taking the ASE certification tests right here on campus at our testing center.
Occupational Outlook
Depending on whether you have a Professional Certificate or an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree, you will have a wide variety of job opportunities. Types of jobs include service and specialty technicians, maintenance and production supervisors, operations management, design, engineering, power train, manufacturing, sales, parts, and quality control. Salaries range from $17,300 to $32,100 if you have a Professional Certificate and from $26,800 to $48,500 + for an AAS degree depending on geographical location and population of the region. With the demand for skilled labor employees on the rise and 80,000 jobs in the automotive field available in Missouri alone, job placement is an expectation easily met for trained entry-level technicians held to a higher standard as is here at SFCC Automotive Technology.
